Once upon a spring day in 2021, we stumbled upon our local farm store and were greeted by a delightful surprise – it was baby chick season! Eager to dive into the world of poultry parenting, we inquired about the cost. The assistant, with a playful twinkle in her eye, offered us a deal: take the whole lot for a mere nickel each. How could we resist? And just like that, we became the proud parents of forty-eight feathered bundles of joy, all for the grand total of $2.40!

As we embarked on our journey with this charming flock, we knew we needed a name that captured the essence of our adventure. Inspired by the nickel-per-chick bargain, and discovering we had a lovely protected hollow where we had chosen to set-up our flock we coined the moniker “Nickelbeak Hollow.” It was perfect – a nod to our humble beginnings and the cozy sanctuary we were creating for our feathered friends.

Sitting in our little hollow, surrounded by our clucking companions, we marveled at our good fortune. Unlike the tales of woe we often heard from other poultry enthusiasts online, our haven remained untouched by predators. And so, Nickelbeak Hollow flourished.

From our modest start to the transformation of our root cellar into a poultry paradise, our farm grew as rapidly as our feathered family. Fuelled by a passion for heritage and rare breeds and a desire to share our love for all things poultry, we sought out the finest breeding stock from across the country, becoming breeders ourselves.

With one owner hailing from the sweltering Queensland summers of the Australian countryside and the other from the rural landscapes of Utah, our expertise in farming and chicken-raising runs deep. From dairy farms to sheep ranches, chickens have always been a part of our lives, ingrained in our very beings. This family run farm has a deep heritage on the land.

Nestled in the picturesque landscapes of Morgan, Utah, Nickelbeak Hollow has become a beacon for chicken enthusiasts far and wide. Offering everything from rare breed chicks to fertilized hatching eggs, our farm is a haven for those who share our passion for poultry.
